BENETEAU OCEANIS 473
This Beneteau Oceanis 473 has twin wheels with a walkthrough transom for easy access. The cockpit has the wheels and genoa sheet winches aft so the sail operation is kept separate from guests relaxing in the large main cockpit further forward. A conventional fully battened mainsail gives good performance aided by the set of Kevlar sails.
Below decks there are two good sized aft cabins sharing a heads and shower compartment to port with the well equipped chart table and navigation area forward of this. There is a practical 'U' shaped galley to starboard and generous seating around the saloon table with a straight settee opposite. There is excellent light in the saloon from the overhead windows and opening port-lights throughout for good ventilation. There is a very comfortable owners' cabin forward with an en-suite heads and shower compartment. The reliable and powerful Yanmar engine is located under the companionway steps.
These Oceanis 473's are capable offshore cruisers with spacious, comfortable accommodation combined with pleasing lines. There is some interior varnish work required and some attention needed to the teak decks in some areas.
