The Gibsea 302 is a modern looking yacht incorporating some clever design ideas. Her full beam extends aft resulting in a fast sailing performance with increased interior volume for good accommodation. The deep keel (1.60m) of the Gibsea 302 combined with spacious accommodation results in a popular design. She is tiller steered from the roomy cockpit and is responsive under power and easy to sail shorthanded with both main and genoa roller furling. A bow roller platform and sugar-scoop transom ensure easy boarding when moored Mediterranean style bows or stern to.
Below decks the “angled” design maximizes the use of interior space. Descending the companionway steps the galley is located to port with the chart table opposite to starboard that cleverly lifts to reveal the fridge. There is a good sized heads and shower compartment aft of this and a roomy double aft cabin behind the galley to port. These yachts have an open plan forepeak with a further double berth.
